A New Approach towards Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Kansas – Juvenile Alcohol and Substance Abuse is not because of the Parents!

How often you have heard or felt when you see a child in drug or alcohol abuse that his or her parents are somewhere at fault for the condition? Or sometimes you tend to place the blame on the school or the peer group that the child has. These thoughts take the child away from effective treatment options. At least in the state of Kansas, efforts are being made to stop these kinds of blame games so that the children would be able to find their abuse treatment options before it becomes too late.

Alcohol and substance abuse in Kansas is now being considered as an individual condition that has its roots in the person’s mind and way of thinking. Outside factors may only precipitate the condition. However, the main reasons behind getting into the abuse and sustaining it lie in the psychology of the person. That is the reason it is futile to blame the parents, friends or schools of the children who get into any kind of addiction. Such a theory has really helped children into substance abuse and alcohol abuse in Kansas to recover and lead normal sober lives.

Such a way of thinking helps because these groups can be made to work with the patient and not fall into a feeling of self-guilt themselves. Parents who are not blamed for their lack of attention or other things will find it freer to participate into their children’s addiction treatment program and this is what is happening in Kansas. Parents are finding it easier to get intervention in Kansas for their children’s addiction problems. This concept has been propounded by the Disability and Behavioral Health Services of the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Kansas.
