A Drug Rehab Treatment is Never Complete

Drug rehabilitation is just a means of allowing the drug addicted patient to come out of a single episode of severe drug abuse. You must know that drug rehab is never a treatment for the complete condition, and it can definitely never cure drug addiction as a whole.

If you have heard of celebrities checking in to various drug rehab programs in the recent past, you will know what this means.Any kind of drug addiction will severely affect the person’s brain. Long years of drug abuse will have created lasting immunity in the brain. In fact, that is the reason why the person craves for a higher amount of the drug each time. The high that the brain used to experience with the initial doses of the drug are not felt at a later stage of the addiction and that’s why the person needs to step up the dosage.

When the brain is so deeply affected by the usage of the drug, do you think a single drug rehab program can treat the person completely from the addiction? The body may be cleansed of all the toxins, but the brain cannot so easily come back to its normal state. Shreds of the addiction will persist in the brain.

Therein lies the danger of a relapse. When a person relapses, it is not the body of the person that asks for the drug again, it is the brain. For this reason, a lot of counseling is done after the drug addiction treatment program to keep the person away from the drug. As long as the brain is completely purged of the toxins introduced into it by the drug, the drug rehab treatment is never going to be complete.
