Drug abuse is a blight on this country. It is somehow tied in to most crimes. It is a cancer that is slowly eating at the fabric of society. That matters, it is important. But no one is going to solve the drug problem in America. Because that is a large vague statement. What needs to be solved is the drug problem in the life the addict you care about. Your son, your daughter, your husband, and your mother. They are where the drug addiction can be stopped. If you are in need of help for a loved one there are resources available to help with an intervention. Resources that can get your loved one to addiction recovery.

Preparation
Make a list of people who care about the addict in question. Also choose people who the addict respects and cares about. Those who care are not those who will offer platitudes. Often those closest to the addict will have a variety of things to say. But the group must have one voice. The Intervention leaders goal is to get everyone together. Both physically, at a location where they can meet with the addict. As well as mentally and emotionally. The final meeting will likely be a practice session so that everyone is prepared. This will be held in the days before the actual intervention.

Intervention Day
On intervention day everyone will work as a single unit. The intervention leader will provide guidance to those who care about the addict. The intervention leader will keep everyone on the same page as they begin to speak about their feelings; both the positive feelings for the person, as well as the negative feelings about their actions under the influence.

It is important that the addict understand that everyone present is there because they care about them as a person. This will be stated by the intervention leader, but can only be really clear through the words and actions of the addicts friends and family.
